The Fateful Encounter

Jennifer was Anthony Hopkins’ second wife after Petronella Barker, and the two met each other while Hopkins was still a married man. During his time away from Petronella, Hopkins missed a flight as he was drunk, and Jennifer was tasked with picking him up who was a Pinewood Studios secretary at that time.

The two began having an affair and in 1972, Anthony left Barker and his fourteen-month-old daughter Abigail Hopkins to be with Jennifer. In the same year, Anthony and Barker got divorced, and on 13th January 1973, Anthony tied the knot with Jennifer.

Why The Divorce?

It seemed that both Anthony and Jennifer had a great headstart in the beginning. During this time, Anthony was suffering from depression and was a heavy drunkard. As his wife, Lynton stood by him and helped the star recover and, in 1975, announced that he was no longer a “slave to the bottle.”

Even though Anthony and Jennifer were going great in their relationship, the two started living separately. While Anthony decided to become a US citizen, Jennifer flat out denied, and this is considered to be the main reason for their split up.

The divorce was finalized on March 30, 2002. It was also during the time while they were apart that Anthony started dating Stella Arroyave. Stella and Anthony tied the knot in 2003 and are now living a happy married life.

Any Children?

Despite being married to each other for almost three decades, Jennifer did not give birth to any children. However, during her marriage, Jennifer became the stepmother of Anthony Hopkins’ daughter Abigail Hopkins.
