There’s big money in rap music; Post Malone cleared $23.2 million last year, Drake put away a cool $14.2 million and Lil Baby made $11.7 million. Earning this staggering amount of money means that they can also live the dream lifestyle of mansions and fast cars. Rappers are certainly known for living large, and their living spaces are no different. You can do a drive by of these mansions, or check them out on satellite view, but you might want to wait for an invite before turning up and asking to use the pool. These inspirational celebrity mansions show you just how far some talent and swagger can take you in life.
Ice Cube’s mansion in Marina Del Rey, California is the height of sophistication. Ice Cube originally bought the house from Jean-Claude Van Damme in 2016 for a cool $7.25 million ($1.25 million more than Van Damme paid for it). The mansion actually serves as a romantic getaway for Ice Cube and his wife of 20 years. There are 6 beautifully-furnished bedrooms, 11 bathrooms and an incredible rooftop swimming pool. If you’re thinking, I’d like to refinance my home for pool and have a bit of the rapper lifestyle, you could look at an equity release scheme. A pool is that bit of luxury that everyone needs in the hot summer months. Ice Cube’s mansion is certainly the getaway pad that every parent dreams of, and also includes a movie theater with a wall-to-wall screen for watching all those romantic movies together.
In April ‘21, 38-year-old rapper, Lil Wayne, splashed out a cool $15.4 million on a mansion in Hidden Hills. This gated enclave in the San Fernando Valley is also home to a number of other celebrities including Jessica Simpson, John Stamos and fellow rapper, Drake. Lil Wayne’s place, which is inspired by farmhouse living (but a little less modest) includes a gym, a movie theater, a huge outdoor kitchen and barbecue center, a sports court and a negative edge swimming pool. Upstairs there are 5 ensuite bedrooms, and there is even a separate guesthouse for when Lil Wayne has his celebrity friends come to stay.
Diddy, a rapper who’s not known for doing things by halves, has what can only be described as a “mega-mansion” in Beverly Hills where he throws extravagant parties. He bought the house in 2014 for $40 million in pocket change. The villa, built in a European style, covers a massive, 17,000 square foot, not to mention the 3,000 foot guest house. The swimming pool at the mansion also includes an underground grotto that is linked by a tunnel that you can actually swim through. To relax, Diddy has a sauna, beauty room and massage room, and if he’s completely exhausted after rapping all day, Diddy can head to the wine room and enjoy a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon.
Living large in their mansions is what celebrity rappers do best. They certainly can’t complain any more about living in a rough neighborhood.
